I'd consider these just different ways of animating more than principles. But they are pretty self explainable, pose to pose is drawing key poses first then drawing the frames between the key poses to create motion, then straight ahead is drawing from one frame to another. There are ups and downs to both but I definitely prefer straight ahead ✌️
